Old Business

The new gates are now in place to keep unauthorized personnel out.  Club members are asked to respectfully tell people to leave if they see a vehicle driving on the range.  Mark and Alex took the 3-D targets to Red Bluff for repair at the Raglan factory.  Thank you very much to Mark’s uncle for letting us ußse his truck and trailer.  Mark also discussed the repair process and timing.  Another large ungulate (bull elk) has been purchased to diversify the Oasis herd.

Please send any information, news or pictures that you would like to have added to our website to Shaun Ayers sayers@ucdavis.edu.  The website can be accessed at http://yolobowmen.com/.

Range Report- Randy Gastineau

Need to re-smash bales, practice range was done except for the 30 yard target.

Financial Report – Robert Tabaraz

For details on club finances please attend the meetings.

Equipment Report – Chad Reis

Chad was able to fixed the one broken tractor, everything else appears to be fine.

New Business

The Raglans sent us a block style broadhead target to have the club shoot up.  The block can be re-cored and re-used, many positive comments so far. Mark is getting a price for the larger version as a possible replacement for the foam broadhead targets. Mitch McKay, a representative from G-5 met some club members at Frontline Archery.  He is apparently very approachable and helpful.  If anyone wants his number contact John Hughes at Frontline (707) 678-9330.  John also mentioned a limb recall on all Bowtech Generals.  If you shoot a General bring it by the shop as soon as possible.  Dave Haverstock suggested that the South side should be a priority for the next work party, and that some areas may not be getting adequate water.  Thinking ahead to the winter months Mark Rubio led a discussion of indoor shooting venues, including the possibility of renting space at the Yolo County Fairgrounds or another location with adequate space.  Robert T. suggested the possibility of the club helping to fund the construction of an indoor range at Frontline Archery, although many details would have to be worked out.  Robert Williams discussed the benefits of taking a bowhunter education course, particularly for new hunters and asked if anyone would be interesting in training to become an instructor.  He also gathered names of people interested in becoming official Pope and Young scorers.  If you were not at the meeting and have interest in either of these please contact Robert.  Finally it was decided that work on the new practice range would have to wait until after hunting season.  Please remember that there will be no September meeting.  The next meeting will take place October 1st.

Broadhead League

Chad Reis discussed the 3D broadhead targets and gave a final total cost, animal selection, and the future costs of things like replacement cores.  Chad and the other guys handling the selection process did a great job of diversifying the choice of animals, with the size of the animal being relative to the various yardages on the North side.  A final vote was taken to make the purchase and now it’s a done deal, we will have a broadhead league.  Robert mentioned that Maya had 40 people shooting a week in their broadhead league this summer.  If we can generate decent interest it will be quite easy to recoup the initial investment and pay for upkeep of these targets.  Plus it will be a draw for new members.  Good job everybody on getting this done; it will be a great addition to club activities.

Meeting adjourned at 8:02 PM

A Brief Introduction

The Yolo Bowmen Archey Range was founded in 1958 with the aim to promote the sport of archery and bowhunting. The range is located at Grasslands Regional Park in Davis, California. Though the range is open to the public for a small fee ($5), formal membership is affordable and highly encouraged. The range consists of two 14 target fieldcourses and an excellent practice range.
