Minutes of December 2008
Meeting called to order at 6:08 pm. In attendance were: Zachary Tarro, Janie and Gary Ledbetter, Mark Rubio, Chad Reis, Joe Campisi, Steve Synhorst, Robert Tabarez, and Kevin Crouse.
Old Business
All of our 3-D targets are back from their extensive repair session at Raglan and in great shape for the Oasis Shoot on March 15th. We purchased an additional elk to add to the herd. The issue of overcharging for the repairs turned out to be a miscalculation on our end, final payment has been made to Raglan.
Please send any information, news or pictures that you would like to have added to our website to Shaun Ayers sayers@ucdavis.edu. The website can be accessed at http://yolobowmen.com/.
Range Report- Randy Gastineau
We need to focus primarily on mowing the new grass coming up. New targets were put up throughout the range with the hunter targets now on the South range and field targets on the North range.
Financial Report – Robert Tabaraz
For details on club finances please attend the meetings.
New Business
Once again if there is any suspicious activity on the range please politely confront the person. We now have a park host but if something suspicious is going on please don’t hesitate to call Mark, Robert, or the Sheriff's Department. The flooding continues on the South side so we discussed how to shut off the water immediately. The merits of Pacific Bow Butt target bales were discussed further with a proposal to purchase them for targets less than 40 yards. The proposal was not finalized and will be brought up again at the next meeting. There was also discussion of a system where people can "adopt-a-target". They would be responsible for maintaining that target in every way except turning bales. We are gauging interest at this point so please come to the next meeting to give your ideas. Unfortunately Elmer's Den is unsafe and rotting away, it needs to be demolished as soon as possible. We discussed replacing it with a large "tuff shed" so it would be a temporary structure and not subject to county tax. This shed would be big enough for a refrigerator, records/scorecards, and a bench for an arrow saw and bow press. We may want to consider getting another cargo container/van to put all of our newly repaired 3-D targets into. This would be considerably more secure than the barn they are now stored in. Also keys need to be made up for all officers.
Elections were held:
Our new range manager will be John Tarro. Thanks John for stepping up to the plate. All the other officers will remain in place because nobody else wanted the positions.
NEW MEMBER: Paul Parsons- Level 2 instructor and CBH scorer. He said that a club he was in previously got several kids bow from the California Archery Foundation. We should consider approaching this group as we try to build our outreach program. Finally there was talk of starting an unmarked target league, and we also want to try to generate more interest in club shoot Sundays.
Meeting adjourned 7:16 pm.
